Well, it was a weekend of growth for the entire Laker program last weekend in Lansing. The U15 lost to the eventual champions in their first game by a wide margin, but came back to fight out three more tough ones despite being short-handed on Sunday. I believe they learned that they are not far away from contending…and still VERY young overall.
The U16 squad got their first bracket win of the year on Sunday morning after taking a couple tough losses on Saturday. Also shorthanded, they still managed to power through their first bracket opponent before bowing out in the gold semifinal round.
The U17 had an up-and-down Saturday with a win first, then two lopsided losses. After some tough love, Sunday saw them win two in a row before bowing out by 6 in the gold championship game. Much like the U16 in Romulus, they were forced to play back-to-back-to-back games Sunday and were just gassed by the end.
Despite that, it was a good weekend to be a Laker because the progress was evident! On to the next one in K-Zoo!
