MYBA Mustangs Spring Showdown Day 1

Mid Michigan Lakers Blue squad opened up play tonight in Westland against the host Michigan Mustangs team.  After leaving their respective games seemingly behind in Flint, we fell behind immediately 17-4.  After a tough first half that showed us that we haven’t had a full team practice yet, we were down 36-16 and in danger of getting blown out of the gym.  However, the boys responded to some tough love at the half and came out with nothing to lose in the second half, led by Austin Harless, Trevor Bland, Tyler Rose, and Ricky Holmes III.  Despite the valiant effort, we could not dig out of the early hole and finished in defeat, 45-56.  Time to shake it off and move on to tomorrow!

Game Notes:

– MML Blue scoring was led by Bland, who put in 16 points.  Harless chipped in 9, while Holmes III, Rose, and Savionn Boone added 6 points a piece.  Thomas Cook added 2 points as well.

– Fraction of the day: 3/11, that is what we shot from the free throw line during the game.  Add that to the turnovers and missed layups, and we see what could have been.

– The Mustang team we played was coming off of a weekend where they went 5-0 and blew every opponent out by 30…not the Lakers!

– CHANGE FOR TOMORROW!!  MML WHITE DOES NOT NEED TO MEET AT ROMULUS HIGH SCHOOL BEFORE THE GAME.  Report directly to Westland John Glenn.

– Both teams will go over to Romulus following the White team’s first game to fulfill our NCAA requirements.
