U-17 Lakers JD Tisdale (Swartz Creek) and Markell Lucas (Beecher) were named to the all-tournament team in Mt. Pleasant over the weekend. Tisdale led the Lakers in scoring and assists to earn tournament MVP honors. Lucas played his hard-nosed style throughout the tournament and actually led the team in scoring in the championship game.
Championship: Mid-Michigan Lakers beat Camp Darryl 82-75
MVP: JD Tisdale 6-5 Jr Mid-Michigan Lakers (Swartz Creek)
Not just the flagship player of the Lakers’ program, but the engine that makes them go with his energy and unselfish playmaking. You forget how tall he is because of how smooth Tisdale looks with the ball. He consistently finished above the rim and has added a tough pull-up mid-range jumper.
Markell Lucas 6-4 Jr Mid-Michigan Lakers (Flint Beecher)
Has that knack for winning, as Lukas started on Beecher’s state championship team, now begins the AAU season with a trophy. A role player deluxe who can pass like a guard or go inside and play big. Good bounce in the lane.
