MML program caps 7-2 pool play with U-17 beatdown of Elkhart

LANSING, Michigan — The Mid-Michigan Lakers have, historically, fared very well at the CBDA Classic. In our first year, a team led by Chris Hutton and Tyler Moreland won the silver bracket championship. More recently, MML teams have finished strong including a runner-up finish for the U-17 team in 2010.

In 2011, MML is back and going strong. The program finished 7-2 during pool play and landed top seeds in both the U-16 and U-15 brackets.

The U-17 team, after losing their first game of the tournament by three, won their next two games by more than 20 points. In the final game of the day against Elkhart, BJ Walker scored 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the way.

The U-16 team rattled off its first perfect record in pool play with three wins over the GR Storm, Common Bond and TC Tigers. Led by Raheen Dudley, the 16s erased a seven-point deficit against Common Bond to win by two .

The U-15 team won its first two games of the tournament before running out of gas playing back-to-back games. They still managed to nab the top seed in their pool, however.
