MT. PLEASANT, Michigan — One of the only teams in Mt. Pleasant to play twice on opening night, the MML U-16 team made the most of its back-to-back games with wins over CMAS-Elite (the host team) and Hill Road Hoops.
The U-16 Lakers were led by strong performances from J.D. Tisdale (Flint Northern) including a 24-point performance highlighted by two second half dunks against HRH.
Kendrick Wallace (Flint Northwestern) came off the bench to spark the Lakers in both games with a strong post performance.
The U-17 team struggled in its opening game of the season with a loss to CDBA. James Conley (Flint Northern), BJ Walker (International Academy) and Nic Stoll (Holly) played well in defeat. Conley led the Lakers with 12.
The U-15 team had a similar debut against a strong Michigan Select squad. Point guard Kelvin Weston (Swartz Creek) showed signs of being an impact player at the U-15 level with impressive finishes at the basket.
The Up North Challenge will be decided tonight in all brackets.
