FLINT, Michigan — Former MML shooting guard Demarco Sanders (Flint Powers) verbally committed to Ferris State University on Wednesday.
Sanders was the leading scoring on a Chargers team that landed three players on the all-state list in class B. He is a natural 6-2 southpaw shooting guard with a reliable outside shot and the quicks to finish at the basket.
As a senior, Sanders averaged 19.1 points per game and led the Chargers to the class B quarterfinals. He shot better than 53 percent from the floor. As a junior, Sanders was an integral part of Powers’ class B state championship team.
Sanders is the second MML player to sign with Ferris State. Former MML small forward Max Gover (Lansing Catholic) also signed with the Bulldogs in 2008.
I don’t know about offers. I know Cleveland State, Chaminade and some others recruited him to some extent. This is a good fit/level for him.
